    Can't Say Enough Good Things
“My thermostat took a dive on me so I went to replace it. That's where I met Breanna at Home Depot she advised me on the Ecobee one and normally I don't use big companies because of cost is always higher since they have higher overhead. However, at $49 for a diagnostic they sent someone out and that's when things got even better Lazaro was our technician. He was trustworthy and communicative and effective at explaining to me and my wife what he's doing to our unit and why. In the end because of his demeanor and character I chose to get work done through his company. I got an ionizer placed and he patched a few areas where air was escaping. Cleaned condenser and added a second capacitor and cleaned the fan on inside of my house as well as checked the coils which were fine. In summary the company is trustworthy or at least my experience was good. At at a $49 diagnostic fee it was worth it to have someone come out and let me know where I'm at. Can't say enough though about Lazaro he sold me on trusting next gen so if everyone is like him you'll find value.”

    Great Service!
“My AC stopped working and gave me a power failure message. Ryan was dispatched as the technician to assist. He was great, he quickly diagnosed the issues (fuses and capacitors). He gave me practical solutions and was great to work with. If I have issues in the future I will be asking for him specifically.”
    - Roger D.
    Went Above & Beyond
“Ryan was extremely professional and knowledgeable. He took the time to thoroughly explain everything in a clear, detailed way, which I genuinely appreciated. He was clean, respectful of our space, and very thorough in his work. You can tell he takes pride in what he does. He went above and beyond, and his kindness and professionalism did not go unnoticed. Highly recommend.”

    Trustworthy Team
“My technician Joseph was a solid and upstanding dude. He took his time doing an inspection of my old hvac system. He let me hover over him and helped educate me on the different components of the furnace and AC units. He didn’t tell me what I wanted to hear, but he told me what I needed to hear. Would trust him and his team to do my maintenance and future installs for my home.”

AMES80-U Gas Furnace Service in Anaheim, CA 92807 | NG Holdings Inc.

Install, replace, repair, and optimize your AMES80-U gas furnace with accurate sizing, code-compliant venting, and clean, quiet performance across Anaheim and Orange County

AMES80-U Efficiency (AFUE) Rating and What It Means for Your Energy Bills

The AMES80-U gas furnace is an 80% AFUE (Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency) furnace, which means about 80 cents of every fuel dollar is converted into usable heat, with the remainder leaving through the flue. In Anaheim’s mild-to-cool winter weather, an 80% AFUE furnace is a common choice for homeowners who want dependable heating without the added complexity of condensing equipment. NG Holdings Inc. helps you confirm whether an 80% AFUE system is the right fit based on your existing venting, comfort goals, and long-term operating costs.

In most configurations, the AMES80-U is a single-stage gas furnace, delivering one consistent level of heat output when it calls for heat. Single-stage heating is straightforward and reliable, and paired with proper duct design and thermostat setup it can provide even comfort throughout the home. If you’re unsure whether your specific model variant supports enhanced blower features, our technicians can verify the data plate and configure airflow correctly during your furnace installation or seasonal tune-up.

How Much Does an AMES80-U Gas Furnace Cost Installed? (Pricing Breakdown)

Installed pricing for an AMES80-U furnace in Anaheim, CA 92807 depends on the furnace size (BTU), cabinet width, venting pathway, code upgrades, and whether you’re changing equipment locations. As a realistic planning range, many homeowners see an installed total between $4,500 and $8,500, with simpler replacements on the lower end and more involved venting, duct, or gas-line modifications on the higher end. NG Holdings Inc. provides firm, written pricing after a site visit so you know exactly what’s included and what’s optional.

Here’s a practical pricing breakdown homeowners often see for an AMES80-U installation in Orange County:

  • Equipment (furnace unit): typically $1,800–$3,400 depending on BTU size and supplier availability
  • Labor and installation materials: typically $1,800–$3,200 (set, level, reconnect, start-up, testing, commissioning)
  • Venting and flue updates (if needed): typically $300–$1,500 (metal vent connector, B-vent, chimney liner evaluation, clearances)
  • Gas line, shutoff, sediment trap, and code upgrades: typically $150–$900 depending on current setup
  • Electrical/controls (disconnect, whip, safety): typically $150–$600
  • Airflow and duct-related corrections (optional but common): typically $300–$2,500 if static pressure or duct sizing is limiting comfort

If you want an accurate quote, the next step is a quick in-home survey where we inspect venting, measure the supply/return system, and verify gas and electrical requirements. For budget clarity, we can also provide options that include duct improvements via ductwork service or long-term protection with HVAC maintenance.

What Size AMES80-U Furnace Do I Need? (BTU Sizing Guide for Anaheim Homes)

Choosing the right BTU size is the most important factor for comfort, efficiency, and furnace lifespan. An oversized furnace can short-cycle, create temperature swings, and increase noise, while an undersized unit may run constantly on colder nights. For homes in Anaheim and nearby Orange County communities, a rough planning guideline is 25–45 BTU per square foot, but the correct answer depends on insulation, window area, air leakage, ceiling height, and duct capacity. NG Holdings Inc. sizes furnaces using a formal load method so you’re not guessing based on the old unit.

As a starting point only (not a substitute for a heat-loss calculation), here are common ranges we see:

  • 1,000–1,400 sq ft: often 40,000–60,000 BTU input
  • 1,500–2,000 sq ft: often 60,000–80,000 BTU input
  • 2,100–2,800 sq ft: often 80,000–100,000 BTU input
  • 2,900–3,500+ sq ft: often 100,000–120,000+ BTU input

Because the AMES80-U is 80% AFUE, the delivered heat is roughly 80% of the input rating (for example, 80,000 BTU input delivers about 64,000 BTU output). Beyond heat load, we also confirm your blower airflow requirements for heating and air conditioning, since the furnace blower often serves both. If your home has hot/cold rooms, high static pressure, or weak airflow, the next step is pairing the right furnace size with duct corrections through our ductwork and airflow balancing recommendations.

Is the AMES80-U Single-Stage or Two-Stage, and What Thermostat Is Compatible?

In typical configurations, the AMES80-U is single-stage heating, meaning it operates at one heating level when the thermostat calls for heat. That simplicity is a benefit for many Anaheim homeowners looking for predictable operation and easier troubleshooting. If you’re comparing systems, two-stage furnaces can run longer at a lower stage for steadier temperatures, but single-stage units can still deliver excellent comfort when properly sized and installed with correct fan settings.

Thermostat compatibility is generally straightforward because the AMES80-U uses standard 24V HVAC thermostat wiring. Most homes will use connections such as R (power), W (heat call), G (fan), Y (cooling, if paired with AC), and C (common) for smart thermostat power. Most modern thermostats, including popular smart models, can work well as long as the wiring supports a dedicated C-wire or an approved alternative is installed. If you’re upgrading controls for better scheduling, remote access, or more consistent comfort, NG Holdings Inc. can confirm wiring and install the right thermostat through our thermostat installation service.

The next step is a quick compatibility check: we verify your current thermostat wiring, confirm the furnace control board terminals, and set blower airflow for your heating and cooling needs. If you have add-ons like a whole-home humidifier or air cleaner, we’ll ensure the thermostat and controls are configured for safe, reliable operation.

AMES80-U Dimensions, Clearance Requirements, Venting Type (PVC vs Metal), and Noise Expectations

The AMES80-U is typically available in multiple cabinet sizes, and overall dimensions vary by BTU and cabinet width. Many installations fall into a “standard” furnace footprint range of roughly 33–35 inches tall, about 14.5–24.5 inches wide (depending on cabinet), and roughly 27–30 inches deep, but NG Holdings Inc. verifies the exact model dimensions before install day to avoid surprises in closets, attics, or garages. Clearance requirements also depend on the listing label, local code, and service access needs; while some sides may be rated for minimal clearance to combustibles, you still need practical working space for filter changes, inspections, and safe service.

For planning purposes, we recommend you assume meaningful front service clearance (often around 24 inches) and proper return-air spacing so the furnace can breathe without starving airflow. We also check combustion air needs for garage or closet installations and confirm any required door louvers or dedicated combustion air openings. If your furnace location is tight, the next step is a site assessment where we measure the space, confirm platform integrity, and provide a clear install plan before you commit.

Regarding venting, the AMES80-U is an 80% non-condensing (Category I) furnace, which generally means it uses metal flue venting (such as an appropriate vent connector to B-vent or an approved lined chimney). Unlike 90%+ condensing furnaces, it typically does not use PVC for exhaust because the flue gases are hotter and not designed for plastic exhaust venting. In some setups, PVC may be used for combustion air intake if configured as a direct-vent style system, but exhaust venting requirements must follow the manufacturer’s instructions and local code. NG Holdings Inc. inspects your existing flue pathway, checks slope and support, and confirms safe termination and draft to keep your home protected.

Noise-wise, homeowners often ask how loud the AMES80-U is. While exact sound levels vary by installation, the main contributors are the blower airflow, duct design, filter restriction, and return sizing rather than the burner itself. A properly sized system with correct fan speed and adequate return air is typically perceived as “steady and unobtrusive,” while undersized returns or restrictive filters can create rushing air noise and vibration. If noise is a concern, the next step is an airflow and static pressure evaluation, and we can recommend adjustments or duct improvements to reduce blower noise.

Common AMES80-U Error Codes, Basic Troubleshooting, and Warranty Coverage

Most AMES80-U furnaces use an onboard control board with an LED indicator that flashes error codes to help pinpoint faults. While exact codes can vary by revision, common fault categories include pressure switch issues (draft/venting or inducer-related), ignition or flame-sense failures, limit switch trips (overheating from airflow restriction), and rollout switch events (serious flame/venting safety condition). If your furnace stops heating, note the LED flash pattern and any recent changes like a new filter, closed vents, or construction dust, then shut the system off if you smell gas or suspect a venting problem.

Safe first-step troubleshooting that homeowners in Anaheim can do before scheduling service includes: verifying the thermostat is set to heat and has power, checking the breaker and furnace switch, replacing a clogged filter with the correct size and MERV rating, ensuring return grilles and supply vents are open, and confirming the gas shutoff valve is in the ON position. If the furnace repeatedly locks out, short-cycles, or shows a rollout/limit-related fault, the next step should be professional diagnosis because continued resets can mask a dangerous condition. NG Holdings Inc. can respond quickly through our furnace repair service and will test ignition, flame signal, venting draft, temperature rise, and safety switches to restore reliable operation.

Warranty coverage for the AMES80-U typically includes a parts limited warranty (often 5 years standard, commonly extendable to 10 years with timely registration) and a heat exchanger warranty that may be longer-term or limited lifetime depending on registration and product tier. Warranty terms can vary by model number, installation date, and whether the unit was registered to the homeowner, so we verify coverage using the serial number and documentation. If you want fewer surprises, the next step is to pair your installation with routine maintenance via HVAC maintenance so small issues are corrected early and warranty documentation stays organized.
